Braden Campbell is an outrageously talented jazz musician who would rather do something grown up -- like drive a taxi. Karen Watts writes and has the credentials to prove it, but she's paralyzed by self-doubt. Robert Blair, a gifted artist, uses his talent to paint signs and billboards.

After years of false starts, cross-country moves, troubled relationships and generally eating their young, the three get tired of it and reunite with a new resolve. Karen places a bet on who would get started first.

To encourage and challenge one another, they form a support group called BIC Cartel and things start to happen with all three.
