The Ouija Board Murder Witchcraft Among Native Americans

Clotilde Marchand, the wife of Henri Marchand and an accomplished painter in her own right was murdered inside her Buffalo, New York home in 1930. A Seneca Indian woman confessed to killing her in a brutal manner, using a hammer to hit her over the head. The investigation into the murder revealed that the Native woman's friend had persuaded her to murder Clotilde. Nancy Bowen, the murderer, and Lila Jimmerson had used the messages they received from Lila's Ouija Board to determine that Clotilde Marchand was a witch. The Erie County trials of Bowen and Jimmerson did not conclude until the following years. Jimmerson endured two of them.
