Living with his robotic dog in the crumbling library of a dead city, fifteen-year-old Tristan just wants to be left alone. When he stumbles across a childhood friend, however, he's drawn into a violent clash, and the two of them are sent fleeing into the wastes with a roving army on their heels.

A distant enclave is their goal. Discovering enemies and allies in all three factions, they'll need courage, faith in each other, and a bit of wisdom to survive. Yet survival isn't everything.
