A Classic Frame Of Pool is a whodunit in the British tradition. A series of murders challenges the police with an apparent absence of motives and an apparent absence of connections. The Serious Crime Team have little to go on but suspect links with the local criminal underworld in the small West Country port.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Walcock has to battle his superiors to make headway in the investigation. From one potentially suspicious death, through a possible murder or manslaughter, to a clear case of murder and an attempted murder, the police are under pressure to solve the case before more blood is shed. Walcock works to uncover hidden personal tensions in the small port, but the senior officers favour professional criminality as an explanation for the motive behind the crimes.
Will pressure applied here and there result in a series of reactions, eliminating suspects and revealing the murderer in "a classic frame of pool"?
