During her third year at university in 1970s Chicago, Alex decides to ditch the commute from her parents' house on the South Side. The stormy relationship with her mother makes her determined to strike out on her own. Alex's experience is no exception to the rule that life changes tend to come in threes.. A new apartment and a request from her parish priest to help him find a missing miraculous icon are mundane enough, until she meets the men of Charlemagne, who have embarked on a dangerous antiterror mission.
