August Blue: A short story

August Blue, based on a real painting, is a fiction in which Charlie, one of a group of small boys, steal a boat to go swimming out in the harbour one hot summers day. Years later, he is remembering what happened to him to his daughter, who is delighted to have seen the picture at last. But then she begins to worry about how the picture came to be painted, by a solitary artist known for his interest in small boys. But Charlie remembers that day for another reason: it was the day he nearly drowned.
