A doctor in training must learn to accept that not only do some patients die, but that some die in traumatic circumstances. There is nothing more disheartening for a doctor in anaesthesia to experience than their patient dying whilst on the operating table, midway through an operation. Re-live the adrenalin, the emotions, the fear and the pain as a team battle in vain to save a patient's life.
