When a financial analyst moves from Wall Street to Shanghai to work for a large but struggling Chinese firm, he finds himself in the middle of China’s new money boom and the luxurious but often troublesome lifestyle that comes with it. While protected by his employer and a chain of high ranking Chinese government officials, he enters into an underworld of corruption and extravagance, and finds himself pitted between a western world in decay and a China in the midst of its dominating rise as the next superpower.
