Pene is a quiet and conservative woman who doesn’t lead an interesting life except that which she reads in books. Then her old flame, a now successful artist comes back into her life and invites her to visit him in his villa in the mountains. Not knowing what she is likely to encounter, Pene travels the distance to see him again hoping that their romance may be rekindled. However Eric is now wealthy and leading quite a different life to what she remembers.
