Closer to God Through Scripture and Prayer

Even the most ardent “prayer warrior” is occasionally at a loss for the right words to use in communicating thoughts, praises, or concerns to the Lord. Perhaps we can’t find or remember the appropriate scripture on which to base our prayer. This book is a compilation of scriptures and prayers that have been sent by e-mail to family and friends over an 18 month period. They have been organized into topics so the reader may find help for whatever is on their heart in daily prayer. At the end of each chapter, you will find a Prayer Poem by the author. These prayers are gifts from the Holy Spirit over a period of ten years. Jesus said, “You may ask anything in my name and I will do it.” Jesus is the Living Word – He lived out the Word of God when He walked in the land of Israel over 2,000 years ago. We can be sure we are praying in His name when we use the scriptures for prayer. The author hopes these scriptures and prayers will be an aid and inspiration to the reader to discover scriptures that are appropriate to their own needs and offer their own heartfelt prayers up to the Lord. May God pour out His many blessings on every reader of this book.
