THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

Is space the final frontier? Are we alone? Is there intelligent extraterrestrial life? Have we been visited by them? What are the heavenly places? What is the relationship between heaven and earth? Why did God create them? What is his plan and purpose for them? How does the Bible teach us to view and understand them? What role is the “new creature” predestined to play in connection with them? What are the implications of these things for “the life that now is” as well as “that which is to come” (1 Tim. 4:8)?

In seeking to answer these questions, the leading astrophysicists and cosmologists of our day will not be consulted in this study. While “thinking God’s thoughts after him” is a legitimate and worthy pursuit, we will be dealing with the eyewitness testimony of the one who was actually there. He is the one who is able to say “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?” (Job 38:4). This is the architect, engineer and craftsman who originally designed the cosmos. He is the one who “created” it for a purpose and then “formed” and “filled” it accordingly. Our goal, therefore, is to get some “understanding” and basic Biblical bearings about the cosmological nature of this “present evil world” that we have been born into. Using the scriptures as the cosmic map that they are, we will spacetime travel through the universe and see it as God himself does. With Bible in hand, this testimony will be our tour guide as we hit the galactic highway and journey THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS.
