A Love to Live For

Eve McHenry hums merrily as she prepares the evening meal, anxiously awaiting the arrival of her husband Richard.

Eve begins to worry as time passes and Richard still has not returned home.

Seeing lights shine through the windows, hearing a car drive up and kill the engine, her heart raced as she pulled the door open wide to greet Richard. Her smile faded as she looked into the grave faces of the two police officers who stood before her.

The deep depression that followed the loss of her husband caused Eve to withdraw from the world, locking herself away, afraid to carry on.

Then one day Eve forced herself to leave the safety of her home. It was only to the local store for groceries, but life comes in baby steps and this was the start.

Reading an ad in a newspaper about land for sale in North Dakota, Eve decides to sell everything she owns and finally begins to dream of a new life and a new future.

Eve, however, wasn’t quite expecting what she found in the devastatingly isolated Badlands of North Dakota.
