Where My Testimony Begins is a book with two stories. The prevailing story is one of victory and triumph over the tragedy and heart break when Author, Debora Gregory loses her only child to undiagnosed asthma. She struggles with the loss but also with the loneliness of being without the child she had raised as a single mother. A young man comes into her life and poses a question to her one day during a dark time in her life and she heard the question and thought on the answer very carefully. That question was “If it were reversed, would you want your daughter to lie in bed and die?” The answer made perfect sense in that instant and she knew what she needed to do from that day forward.
Secondly, Where My Testimony Begins is about the relationship Debora has with her daughter’s father. While Debora is a preachers’ daughter, Tyrone is unsaved and a product of his environment. They get together with plans of grandeur but by the time Debora realizes that this relationship was not meant to be, sadly she has already given him her heart. She goes from loving him to hating him for 10 years and then reconnecting and loving him again after their daughter passes. She feels indebted to him for standing by her the first two weeks of this traumatic ordeal. Hoping that he has changed, she starts this obsession all over again.
