Quentin is the head executioner at the Grand Coliseum in Orchrisus. He is a quiet man who just wants to be left alone, until a chance encounter with the enigmatic escort Razia Rashid changes everything. On the run from dangerous men, Razia finds safety and friendship in the dour gladiator and soon Quentin's life is thrown into turmoil. His home is first invaded by his new friend, and then friends of her own. With Razia's influence, Quentin soon becomes surrounded by prostitutes, all wanting his friendship...And his protection.

Meanwhile, Razia's past is catching up with her. Her former pimp Piro Pentius will stop at nothing to get her back, and has sent his best assassin to bring her back, dead or alive, and to find out who is moving in on his turf and siphoning his hookers away. As the unwanted job of pimp is thrust upon Quentin, he must learn to manage customers, a horde of whores, and how to deal with Razia, who seems intent on making his quiet life more exciting...Whether he wants it or not.
