Earth Lady

While on a weekend at a plush resort on the planet Valdebaron, Lt. Stephanie Saxon survives a sneak attack on her, her boyfriend and her anti-gravity car Eagle One just prior to her departure for Earth. Home again, she must defend her air car from attempts to nationalize it and dissect i, while worrying about its declining condition. A reunion with her boyfriend Grant Wilson is shortened by the President who sends her and Eagle One off to Florez on the starship "Carl Sagan," back to the air car's planet or origin, to meet and greet the aliens there. Once again, Stevie must fight for Eagle One, a battle first lost, but then won, not by her, but by Eagle One itself.

Stevie creates a sensation with her videos of the planet Earth, earning herself a small fortune in the native currency which she employs to repair Eagle One, grievously and almost fatally damaged in a battle and rescue in the Forest Preserve. Later, a diplomatic assignment to a hostile nation turns into an ambush, a paralyzing laser rifle injury, and the unleashing of Eagle One's considerable weaponry. Stevie calls on Eagle One to rescue her from a hospital/prison, then must defend herself against damages stemming from her exit.

A TV program featuring her restricted activities in low gravity horrifies her, yet leads to serendipitous attention and eventual partial recovery. As the "Carl Sagan" prepares to depart, its holds jammed with air cars and other booty from Florez, Stevie invites a native biologist to return to Earth with her. As she and CeeCee watch night-side, Earth slowly turns beneath them, she learns yet another secret of her air car, Eagle One.
