Building upon the concept of the Venn diagram, Sherri Perry's short stories and poetry explore the spaces, relationships and situations where like and unlike intersect, revealing unexpected commonalities. Her touch is light, belying observations that strike right to the heart: a young girl whose her beloved grandfather is "famous but only to me;" a wife and her mother-in-law join forces to teach their son and grandson a lesson or two about obeying the rules; an adolescent boy's first tailgate party leaves the reader chuckling over his brainlessness,right along with his parents. Interspersed throughout are peoms calling for solace, comfort, and praising the redemptive power of New Orleans rainfall. An admirable collection from a dedicated author.
