Tumbling Down the Nighttime

Ed lay in his nursing home bed, his sheets wet, the nurses running late in their nightly routine of cleaning him up. He hated the place. He had lived a long and wonderful life and the waiting to die just seemed like too much for him to have to put up with.

But then one night he got a very special visitor from his past, a visitor who had forgotten to say goodbye all those decades before.
