Illusions
What if a family sat in their living room completely absorbed by their favorite activity (watching a television program, texting on their smart phone, playing a computer game) while their house burned to the ground around them? Would you think them mesmerized by some pervasive illusion, or simply ignorant of their pending disaster? This question may come closer to the truth of our own situation than any of us would dare to imagine or would like to believe.
Dystopia
Our culture is rich with media that speak to dystopias. There are numerous books and films that depict a coming or future dystopian world. However, are dystopian societies imaginary and do they always concern the future? Are we currently living in a dystopian society?
Monsters
Are monsters real? It is quite clear that the entire coterie of fictional monsters—from Dracula and Frankenstein to the Wolfman, the Blob, and Godzilla—have not collectively caused as much destruction or been responsible for as many deaths on film as have the monsters to whom I refer. What to I mean by monsters? Humans with psychopathic, sociopathic tendencies, who attain great position or power and then proceed to cause unfathomable destruction and chaos.
What reviewers are saying -
"Prepare to be shocked at the truths and how they are stranger than fiction..."
—Bri Bruce, Editor, Hearts of Steel
"Kermit Hearsong's Illusions, Dystopia & Monsters is a clear and concise summary of the many ways that humans have fouled their own nest -- the planet Earth -- from economy to war to environment. This is not a book for conspiracy buffs. To the contrary, it is a fine one-stop read for thinking people who want to know how badly humans have bungled both their humanity and the treatment of the Earth. This book lucidly summarizes the whole picture for the reader who wants to understand the global situation in one pass.”
—Nicholas Carroll, Author, Huffington Post blogger, analyst
"A comprehensive and disturbing analysis of our corrupt system and its devastating consequences."
—Natylie Baldwin, fiction writer, essayist and book reviewer.
