“Taylor, this is for you.” And he slid the tiny delicate ring onto her left ring finger. “It isn’t an engagement ring; we are too young for that. I guess it would be like a promise ring. Someday we will be old enough to follow your people’s tradition of a wedding and I promise to be there for you forever. Someday but not soon. It’s weird to be thinking of a wedding at seventeen.” He smiled at her.
Taylor pulled her hand from his and looked at the tiny ring. The band looked like silver coral and in the middle set in a small nest of what looked like diamonds was a beautiful small pearl. She had never seen a ring even half as beautiful as this.
