Murder in the Third Degree

Peter D. Queen (Q to his friends) is the secretary of the Pilgrim Masonic Lodge in Glendale, Arizona. He is complacent in his safe and sedate life, lives with his elderly father, and one day finds himself being chatted up which results in conflicting his emotions. In the lodge, one of the members has turned offensive and abusive and eventually is murdered. At the behest of the Grand Master Q makes inquiries to determine if the murder could have been committed by a Freemason. The quest to answer this question results in a trip to Kansas and the murder of two women. Q finds himself a suspect and possibly even the killer's next victim. Added to the mix the secretary's once quiet life is complicated with a love interest, the likes of which, he's ill prepared to cope.
