Analogous to many ancient authors, Plato developed an apocryphal (spurious) corpus of works. Undoubtedly, much of the apocryphal material was incubated within Plato's school, the Academy of Athens, and some may have been created under the watchful eye of Plato himself. Other apocryphal pieces appear to have been written well after the death of Plato. Nevertheless, some of the apocryphal works in this collection embody the philosophy of Plato better than others, but all were inspired by Plato's series of dialogues and a few letters. This book collects the known apocryphal writings of Plato in one volume for the scholar and the student.
