The title is a part-portion of a sentence from the Book of Psalms Chapter 46 verse 1. It read: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

CHAPTER ONE
"The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe." (Proverbs 29:25)

A very present help indicates trust, faith, love that God would not fail to deliver in the day of trouble.
In a quiet country-side village a family enjoyed dinner together. About 12 midnight, the youngest of the children complained of stomach-ache. The parents took him to the toilet and he felt better. Then another of the children; and another. Soon the parents were following the same pattern of stomach-ache then bathroom. An hour later the youngest complained again and everyone began to complain and they all wanted to use the single bathroom the same time. The father suggested that they move into the backyard garden. The whole family proceeded to the garden. When they arrived each was looking for a spot while the father was helping the youngest to settle down.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion from the nearby gas company. It quickly engulfed their house and other houses on the pipelines. The heat and smoldering smoke was beyond anyone's imagination. Those in the house could not make it out alive and this family outside in the backyard garden could not dare go near but run as explosions followed explosions.
On that pipeline, they were the only ones saved miraculously. The family said they had none but God and they relied on Him as a very present help in danger.

What is trouble? It is another word for misfortune, anxiety, dilemma, danger, worry, distress, agitate etc.

This maybe in the form of physical, emotional or a combination of tumults that is seen or unseen. Since we live in a culture that promotes beauty in a certain format such as chop-stick thin, woe betide the person who is obese. As a result of this stigma there is plenty of trouble festering underneath those beautiful suits and dresses. They are troubled. They forget that you need not carry your burden alone, never! There are different issues confronting each of us and there are different roads and experiments practiced to reach the same goal. The goal being a life without trouble. Some of us feel we deserve it, others think they worked for it and another group assume it is their entitlement to have a life without trouble. Money will not deliver one from it nor will power or fame. Even a combination of all human perfection is only photo-op for there is fire burning underneath those diamond clustered clothes.

Trouble does not need an invitation to descend on you nor does it need your permission to tip over the carefully structured umbrella covering you. When it comes, it comes. Only God can deliver one from trouble – period. This is His realm, this is His expertise – mercy and loving-kindness.

The Man with a withered right hand was sitting in the synagogue as our Lord Jesus taught. While the scribes and Pharisees were watching him, whether he would heal on the Sabbath day, Jesus was ready to heal the man. Not caring for the accusations levied on him that he healed on the Sabbath day, he showed mercy and loving kindness to the man with the withered hand. Mathew 12.9-14
Many families are today crying because of vile and evil people that have used the internet to destroy our young and the innocent. While the cowardly sit before their monitor, they are asking little children to do the unthinkable. My prayer is that God will remember the families and comfort them in one way or another. What was meant for the good of mankind has become the weapon used by the wicked ones. I am moved to pity and sadness anytime our young ones are entrapped in the evil snare and distributed for the world to see. Committing the act is bad enough but flaunting and taunting the victim to suicide is worse than a whole military campaign. This is the world we live in currently. May God be our help in this very present danger lurking in our very homes and hearts.
