What if there was a secret, revolutionary technology capable of making a person believe he or she is somebody else, replete with implanted memories? What if this technology was being employed by US Counter Intelligence to transform common soldiers into short-term “immersion” spies, "trancing" them into believing they are committed members of the Taliban to learn its secrets? Working covertly behind enemy lines, a Special Ops Team in Afghanistan, embedded with a female specialist, deploys a “Trancer” spy into the Taliban – a technology capable of turning a soldier into an "immersion spy", temporarily making an American soldier believe he or she is a someone else, in this case, an Al Queda sympathizer. But as the mission grows ever more precarious, their young spy grows increasingly confused and disturbed by his memory lapses and shifting loyalties, driving him on a hellbent search to discover who he truly is, even as he tries to protect a precarious new love.
