When you are a licensed Private Detective, investigating domestic matters is unavoidable.
Until the past few years this had mostly consisted of infidelity and child support issues, but now a new twist to domestic work has emerged: ONLINE DATING PROBLEMS.
The world is overflowing with people that have recently become single again, and many of them are trying to find another mate on the web. Enter the Billion-Dollar Internet Matchmaking Industry. They claim that for a fee, they can find the perfect match for you! And maybe they can, but there can be a lot more to it than they would have you believe.
How do I know? I know this because I, and all the other men and women in my profession have been getting the requests to help sort out the aftermath when things suddenly go terribly wrong… and it happens more often than you think.
I would be the first to say that this book may not be for everyone. The readers most likely to benefit would be the people that are already trying to untangle a messy web relationship, or those just beginning to ease their way into the online dating realm. SO, if you are already, (1) extremely savvy about online dating, (2) completely wise in the ways of the world, (3) impenetrable to frauds and con artists or (4) without a single instance in your history of being taken advantage by anyone: this book may be below your ‘pay grade’, so to speak.
When a fifty-five year old school teacher found that they were overwhelmed, embarrassed and hurt by an online dating relationship, who did they call? It wasn’t a parent, or sibling or even their best friend; it was me, a Private Detective.
Why? Perhaps they were too embarrassed to admit to those around them that they were involved with online dating in the first place. Maybe they didn’t want to hear the inevitable lectures from their friends and family about the inherent dangers of meeting people on the web. They might have felt that only a Private Detective could help, because all they really wanted to do was unmask the person they had been struggling to understand for months.
And to all the potential readers in their fifties, sixties and seventies, let me share another quick case with you. One of my previous clients unwittingly began interacting with a con artist, who overwhelmed them with false promises and tall tales. My client was eventually taken for tens of thousands of dollars in the supposed forms of ‘loans’ and ‘gifts’. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that if they had read this book before they met the rascal on line, it never would have happened. That one scenario alone convinces me that there is true value within these pages to someone out there.
So whether you are just beginning to explore ONLINE DATING for the first time, or trying to find some clarity in the foggy relationship you are already in: my sincere hope is that this book can help you.
