The Cruzan Sorceress

There are tales that should be told, others that are never told, and ones that simply must be told. This one falls into the latter category. Of all the twisted fantasies that exist in this world, this story is but a brief glimpse of man’s resilient nature, his will to survive, and his ability to adapt.

Few people realize how significant their environments are upon their lives. Sometimes it takes only a moment to be whisked away into a world so foreign, so tempting, so erotic it overtakes them in a whirlwind of sensuous delight and erases all memories of the mundane. This story was not dreamt, conceived, or contrived, it simply wrote itself. Over the course of nearly 10 years, it swirled in my mind like the boiling cauldron of witches brew over a remote crackling fire. It seems that every time I would try to modify or change it, something ominous would happen. It was as if it was telling me not what to tell, but how to tell it. Of all the things I have written, it was as if the words were screaming to be released from their prison in my mind and allowed to find a permanent home on the page.

I was compelled to take myself on a journey, to the point where my spare time and energy were demanded by this to me, driven to some mysterious end, at the expense of normal activities. When the rough draught was finished, it sat in a box for years until one day when several haunting voices in my head made themselves known, along with several of my Internet friends demanding that I edit and produce a finished product. It has been a long process, one that has taught me many things, mostly about myself.
My hope for you, the reader, is that you can release your hold on reality for a few hours, and take a journey with me to a place that was quite real. Welcome both a concept that is not beyond the realm of possibility and a nightmare that no one should ever have to experience. What you take away from the story, if anything at all, is up to your mind and how easily it can encompass the lure of the unknown. I have merely allowed a few bits and pieces of myself to surface in a story that is far more exotic, far more interesting, much more captivating than my own. It was a melding of truth and fiction, not to mention fantasy. Which was which, is totally up to you.
