Rain was pounding on the roof, as the Doctor spoke to her. You have to stop doing this, one day some one will not be there to save you. Her wrists were stinging as he knit the needle in and out stitching up the broken skin, where the box knife had been used to slash her wrists. Her hair was still damp from the pool water.

Listening to the rain, she wondered at who had rescued her. This time she had made sure no one was around to interfere. She waited until the early hours of the morning so both family and staff would be sound asleep. Al was sleeping soundly as she slid out of bed. She often awoke in the middle of the night and went to her study to work on things. Knowing she had planned everything so clearly, she was unsure how this could have happened.

Waiting for the Doctor to finish she could hear the Case Manager arranging for her to be transferred to the Psychiatric Hospital. She had visited there many times. She knew the routine well, just make them think you are sorry, swallow the new pills and be out in four or five days.

Sleeping soundly from the sedative they had given her she was surprised that the quiet sound had penetrated her unconscious state. Now awake aware of someone in the room, she felt suffocated. The man was quiet, but she knew who it was. He had been watching her sleep. Knowing that the truth was destined to come out, she turned in her bed so she did not have to look at him. He walked over and patted her shoulder, laying a sunflower on her pillow. Quietly he left not saying a word.

Ringing for the nurse, she asked for some water. This was an excuse; she just did not want to be alone. She had seen a ghost from her past. One she was not ready to face. She was thankful she would be locked away for a few days. She needed this time to think; make a new plan. The nurse stayed for a while, after giving her another injection of the same tranquilizer to calm her.

Alone again, her skin was icy and clammy. Closing her eye’s she felt the tranquilizer start to work. As all ghost do, he left that strange feeling of frostiness behind, making her shiver. It was a dream, only a dream or maybe a hallucination brought on my the medication. Burrowing down under her covers to rid herself of the icy feeling, she sought to return to sleep, return to blackness, letting the sedative work once again. Something scratched her arm; fearfully she dug under the covers; grasping the stem of the sunflower the bright yellow petals mocking her she threw it across the room.
