Judah's Bride

Silla is a Cherokee Medicine Woman on the run with little Salali, hiding from soldiers in the mountains. The year is 1838 and her people are being rounded up, forced to march on the Trail of Tears to the barren lands of their new reservation nearly a thousand miles away. Many will die on the journey.

Judah Benton lives alone at the edge of the wilderness, a handsome young farmer whose beloved wife and unborn child were taken by fever. After being bitten by a snake, he stumbles to his cabin one summer afternoon to discover Silla and the child have taken refuge there.

Silla uses her skills to nurse him back to health, only to discover he's a stern man who believes that women under his roof must to do as they are told or suffer the indignity of an over the knee spanking.

For the sake of the child, Silla swallows her pride and agrees to submit to his rules. Judah comes to respect her skill and knowledge and she and Salali discover the warm heart hidden beneath his stern facade.
