As much as Lysette Alexander loved the warmth of Aunt Evy's house, she often took her ancestral home for granted. Although she took pride in her late Great-Grandpa Gabriel Casavant’s craftsmanship, she never gave his woodcarvings much more than a passing glance. Lysette didn’t fully appreciate Gabriel's architectural masterpiece until the eighth grade, when a friend helped her to look at Evy’s house with fresh eyes. Suddenly, the once quiet walls seemed to shout for Lysette’s attention, and the secrets of Marseille began to emerge from the woodwork of her Casavant family home.
