Written in the 1990's this book is about government, not about politics. Specifically, this book is about the democratic form of government, discussing various forms of democracy that have existed in the past and currently. Past and current definitions of democracy leave a lot to be desired because they are no well defined and are subject to interpretation. This book proposes a better definition which should help to improve our democratic form of government.
As a nation, little has been done to improve the democratic process over the last two hundred years. The lack of progress during the early years of our nation is understandable. Opportunities are now available to us today to further the democratic process, but we have not, and are not, taking advantage of these opportunities.
It is important to keep in mind that the words Democrat, Democratic Republic and Republican in this text do not refer to political parties but to a form of government.
