During my holidays in school I usually visit a friend whose mother ran a front store by a busy road. I would visit and help in running the store when my friend was alone in attending to customers. This day, it was particularly quite. My friend's mother was away and my friend was happy for my company. We both sat at the entrance hoping and watching the road for drivers that slowed down to request for cold drinks. It was a sunny and beautiful day and we looked out anxiously. Suddenly, a comely and neatly dressed young man stood in front of us. We were taken aback because we could not remember seeing him walking to the store or driving past us. Nevertheless, we quickly stood up and asked what he wanted to buy. He said: "May I have two cases of water? My car is parked just around the corner." He gave us money for the two cases and we both carried each case after him. I asked my friend if she could make him out because I did not see him again. My friend also said she could not locate the man again. The street was not very busy and we knew every corner and angles of the road. We decided to look for the car where he said, he parked it. Both of us then realized that we do not even know the type or color of the car. We did not see him get out of the car nor did we ask which corner he parked the car for there were three of such corners.
We decided to go through him first and closet corner to the store. As we made the turn, there was a loud bang and heavy crunching sound. People were screaming and shouting. Carrying the case and not finding the buyer, we returned to the main road fast. What we saw was an incredible, horrible sight of the store. A truck had driven off the road crushing our sits and into the store proper. Everyone kept shouting that there are people in the store and they must have being sitting on the crushed chairs. As we watched in awe, people where calling our names and trying to get the truck driver, who was very dazed. They managed to get the driver out of his sit and everyone began making suggestion on how to get the store girls out from under the truck. It was in this commotion that we ran forward. Those who knew us asked how we got out from under the truck. We explained that we just stepped out to drop two cases of water for a buyer. Moreover, we could not even find the buyer. That it was during the search, we heard the big bang and the noise. Everyone standing around was surprised at the timing which saved our lives. Soon, my friend's mother was on the scene and she was in such awe of the goodness of God that she rolled on the ground giving thanks to God for saving our lives.
But where is the buyer? He must have heard the commotion or the noise for it was like a large bomb? Where did he go? Where is his car? We still had his money and he should be concerned. For all these questions, we did not hear from the nice-looking man who came and ordered for the two cases of water.
Who was the man? Where did he go to? Where did he park his car – if he had one? Why did he not come back to collect the case of water or the refund? Could this be some type of coincidence that saved our lives? There were many questions, very many but little answers.
