Having just been laid off, Meegan Jones seeks comfort from her favorite book and finds herself within the pages of the historical romance novel. Overjoyed with meeting one of the characters, she reveals to him that he is a fictitious character.

The Honourable Ackerley Acton Manners-Sutton, known as Act, is distraught to learn that he is merely a character in some light piece of fiction and decides to fight back against the author he feels is ruining his chances at happiness.
