Tales of a Global Era

The Builder, the Bean Grower, the Conservationist, and the Chief Information Officer are all characters who have used technology to make themselves powerful. They have built technologies for strategic advantage in warfare but have also used them in trade to dominate the societies in which they live.

But things go terribly awry for them when a Stranger arrives at the end of their histories and demonstrates their own vanity and lack of sophistication. So ensconced and terrified are some of these characters by the appearance of this Stranger that they immediately turn upon him and murder him to demonstrate the superiority of the thoughts that underpin their power.

But as time moves on, as the sophistication of civilizations develop they will find that they cannot outpace destiny. Each time they dispatch the Stranger, they begin to realize the patterns and interconnectedness of their own histories, and that they can no longer afford to follow the same course of violence humankind has always followed, or as the Stranger warns them, “They risk complete annihilation.”
