The connotation surrounding the word 'rock' is stability, a mainstay or pillar. Right from Sunday school we leant the song culled from the words of our Lord Jesus Christ about the wise man who built his house upon the rock. When rain fell, the floods came, the winds blew and beat upon that house; yet it did not fall, for its foundation was built on the rock. On the other hand, the foolish man who built his house upon sand. And the rain fell, the floods came, the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell. Indeed the fall was a great one.
The rain signifies the storm of life. It is the inevitable aspect of life that one cannot do anything about but be prepared. And how are we to be prepared? It is by keeping our house built upon the rock. The reference to house here does not necessarily mean houses in its simple term it means our life, our being. For example, if I ignore the words of the Lord and place all my trust in others and princes, I am building my house on the sand. When trouble comes, they will abandon me and great would he the fall. Whereas if I place my trust in the Most High God and the storm comes, He would not abandon me nor forsake me. He is faithful and merciful.
When you are in the valley of life, only God can lead you to the rock that is higher than you. This is an elevation, a promotion from current status. Therefore, when life demotes you which is common, your Maker will be your backup and support. It is at that time that you will say, "From everlasting to everlasting, thou art GOD! I give You all the glory, honor, adoration, victory for who is like You in the heavens or the earth? Who is like You, glorious in holiness and fearful in praises?" If this is not the way it goes, your fall might be so great that all hope will be lost. Many have fallen and became dust on the way.
Let us hold onto the rock, the pillar of God and we would be standing when the storms of life comes, for it usually does come. This is reality. The purpose of making publications available at the barest minimum price is to encourage you when the storm comes that you may stand your ground in Jesus name – amen?

For how long will you want to remain in the valley of sorrow and pain of heart? How long you want to stay there is really your choosing. I had such an experience when my mother passed to the Lord. Mourning, in an unexpected way, breaks the barrier between us and God. The only comfort in sorrow is to hide under the shadow of His wings. Nothing else will give comfort. You will begin to see the light when you confess with your mouth that: "Lord, take me to the rock that is higher than I." Remember, the valley is filled with things such as debris, garbage, wreckages which would figuratively swallow you up! This is the reality of life.
