Our baseball odyssey has taken us from coast to coast watching baseball games at all levels. One day while riding the DC Metro to a Nats game an older couple asked us what we most enjoyed about the baseball experience. We replied that it was the people we have met over the years. They were surprised by our response.
Baseball lends itself to social interaction. This is especially so in the minor leagues. Visiting a new ball park gives you the opportunity to sit and chat with other fans about their favorite player, stadium or the best place to eat. We asked a couple in Bluefield, WV, where was the best place to eat? They said to Princeton. Many, many years ago I met an elderly fan at Fenway whose memory went back to players like Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper. His favorite Red Sox player? Freddie Lynn. Lynn was Karen's favorite player too.
We have put together a selection of stories, mostly showcasing the unique diversity of baseball in Washington. They will entertain, inform and amuse you.
