A brief book written for the exhibition of the first five paintings from Alphonse Mucha's "The Slav Epic" when displayed in New York in 1920.
The first half of the book is a concise biography of Mucha, his rise to fame, from a penniless art student, to one of the founders of Art Nouveau. The last half of the book gives detailed descriptions of each of the five paintings in the exhibit:
I. SVANTOVÍT CELEBRATION ON THE RUJANA
II. THE ABOLITION OF SERFDOM IN RUSSIA
III. MILIČ OF KROMĔŘÍŽ
IV. HUS PREACHING IN THE CHAPEL OF BETHLEHEM
V. THE MEETING OF KŘÍŽKY
The book contains several illustrations and photographs, All original illustrations and photographs are included and optimized for the kindle (note: all photographs of the paintings are in black and white).
