The world of Super Heroes and their equally powerful enemies was one that Yo'Kimi Ban would have rather forgotten about. It was a life she'd left behind a long time ago and despite being the city she'd worked in during her short career, Richmond, Virginia, was the place that helped her do so. The war that the alien races the Sernians and Tervoli brought to their world was in a shaky stalemate and people were unaware of who she had been, a person she tried to keep buried. It keeps her out of direct conflict with the Labratory that ended her career in the first place.

The labs whose control over the city is an open secret. The Head of the lab, Andrew Folten, makes it a priority to keep the people safe, so long as they don’t ask questions about the experiments they run. He’s of the opinion the city doesn’t need a hero: protecting the city is the job of Police and the Army. But when he responds to an emergency from another branch of the Labs, he and Kimi both receive a pointed reminder that there are some things only Super Heroes can take care of and live to tell the tale afterward.
