The thing Janice knew immediately was that her head ached, then she began to taste salt. It was dark and sweat was streaming down her face into her mouth. God. It was so hot in here, so hard to think, so hard to remember where she was. She tried to reach out to turn on a light but she could hardly move. The wall was right in front of her, all around her, and God, it's so hot. Why is it so hot? Her hand touched the metal wall of the small compartment and her skin instantly started heating up. The wall seemed to be vibrating no... humming and she could feel herself being jostled as if the tiny room was moving. She tried to scream but her throat was so dry that she could barely hear her own voice. She stopped and listened again, but all she could hear was the distant rumble of the Buick's engine. Exhausted, she slipped away again.
It would be five days before he would make himself known to her. Five days of pure hell as she tried to remember exactly what had happened. How she had come to be here, why had her clothes been taken and what he wanted with her. Frightened, her imagination ran wild. Her fear was so out of control that at times she could do no more then cry. Other times she would grab hold of the wire wall and shake it as hard as she could but the cage never faltered. Her screams went unanswered and when she finally thought that maybe this was it, that she would have no answers. That was when he came and the answers that followed would be worse than anything her young mind could have conjured.
