A view of life by the author as viewed in a series of short, interrelated stories involving strange characters, talking animals and vegetables, and his many adventures with aluminum foil. A study in off-beat humor, bad puns, and the art of anti-climax.
Think Garrison Keillor meets Family Guy or Aesop doing stand-up comedy. Life Seemed Good, But... is a collection of fairy tales for adults (sorry, no graphic sex). Many are taken from the author's column for Wassup Local magazine, published from Milwaukee to Chicago, which he has been writing since 2008. Warning: contains hidden obscure trivia and quotes from famous authors and movies. Mr. Bell's unique sense of storytelling will be good for at least several months as you discover the many hidden interconnections.
This is a set of stories good for bedtime reading (and interesting dreaming). He has the ability to tell a story with original characters and plots and give it to the reader as a gift. I highly suggest reading this outdoors where there is enough space for laughter and guffaws. The tales and tidbits are inventive and perhaps a bit disturbing. Just do not over think them. It is fun to share them with co-workers and friends just to see what will happen. Be careful on sharing them with family especially the ones you live with.
