Ghosts of Families Past

Bat Garrett happens to be on hand when the Native Sun Trading Post blows up. Two bodies are found in the rubble, presumed to be the owners of the trading post. But Jody has seen them before. Jody knows that, if there's anyone in the world with motive to want the two shop-owners dead ... it's her.

Jody Garrett was kidnapped years ago and brainwashed to think she was the child of Robert and Helen Alexander. Bat discovered the plot and rescued her, and then the Alexanders disappeared, assumed to have been killed by whoever orchestrated the kidnapping for them. Jody did her best to ignore that anything had ever happened, but there were always niggling little doubts in the back recesses of her mind. Now, having seen that the Alexanders were not just alive (until recently), but were living in the same town as she and Bat and their new baby, all the old anxieties come flooding back in.

As much as Jody would like for it all to go away, she knows Bat has to investigate the Alexanders' death or she will forever be looking over her shoulder.
