This story explores the difficult and interconnected issues of physical child abuse, psychological recovery, false arrest, prison abuse, self-education, prayer, forgiveness, unconditional love, and personal victory over adversity. Under Black Light is a work of blended history, autobiographical and biographical fact, together with historical fiction and social fiction. Therefore, the characters introduced here play biographical roles and begin their stories portraying real lives. They end up, however, in the realm of fiction, with alternative endings to the lives they actually led. With the exception of Carol Merrill, Cherilyn Sarkisian, Olivia de Havilland, Alexander Dubcek, Mick Jagger, Mercedes Matter, and Mark Tobey, the author is unaware of any similarities in names of the other characters with actual living personalities. If similarities do exist, it is accidental and inconsequential to the plot.
