What follows is the story of the encounter between various kinds of meditative approaches and the particular shape of my mind and personality. I must work between the particular and the general in this account of inward travel. If too general, it would become another impersonal survey of meditation methods; if too particular, it would become a slice of autobiography of little help to other types of individuals. Perhaps somewhere between the meditative stimulus and the personal response, you the reader can chart what might be your own path into the interior.
