HERBERT GEORGE "H. G." WELLS (1866–1946) was an English writer, best known for his work in science fiction. Wells is often called "The Father of Science Fiction" along with Jules Verne.

Among his most notable creations are the timeless masterworks War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and The Time Machine.

The Time Machine relates the journey of a Time Traveler into the far distant future where the human race has devolved (rather than evolved) into two species: the tiny and unintelligent Eloi, and the subterranean nocturnal Morlocks.

Befriending the lovely Weena, the traveler learns to his dismay that humankind has forgotten all that it has learned through the centuries, preferring instead to frolic endlessly under the sun.

When his time machine is stolen by the Morlocks, the Time Traveller must find a way to return to his own time before he becomes food for the cannibalistic Morlocks.
