Lucy was human and part of the Lucent Series, namely stock humans, who by their virtues, both physically and emotionally, could be advanced to purposely, on command, manifest themselves in various harmless modes, mainly for medical research purposes. She had been recruited at 13, and her family considered her fortunate to be given an opportunity to help the human race. This was not an easy lifestyle, and she was supported by entities known as Tenders; there were three, but she had a special relationship with Tender 2, Polish. She was now over twenty, and was curious about her future and what would become of her after passing her exams and labs. Would she eventually marry, and have children, and who was Lewis?
