A California Gold Rush Classic! Edward G. Buffum was a writer, journalist, 2nd Lt. in the Mexican-American War, Gold-Miner, and early California politician who kept a journal for three years of his early California experience. The journal includes his experience in the Mexican-American War (La Paz, Baja, California), his gold-mining experiences, and his days in early San Francisco as an elected official who aided in establishing California as a State in the Union. His journal includes great detail in every part of his journey.

Additionally, author Bridgette Stewart give a fabulous ancestral history of the Buffum's and an extensive peak into Edward's life history. Stewart is the first author in the history of reporting on Buffum to discover his marriage in 1852.

A must read for California Gold Rush History.
