Save Stalin
Joseph Stalin was one of the most feared and hated despots in world history. Save him? Who would want to save him?
Leopold Asher was an agent in both World War I and World War II. In the second world conflict he served in the European Theater of Operations and ended up in the Baltics. He was on the British and American side.
Lena Petrovna was an agent in World War II, and she served in the European Theater of Operations and ended up in the Baltics. She was on the Russian side.
After WW II, they worked together, avoiding too much work, but like so many others, were sucked into the Cold War. They met this challenge as a married couple, even though they had been lovers since their first encounter.
This war, at first, involved a man named Joseph Stalin, and then it involved other men as leaders of the Soviet Union and its satellite countries. Most wanted Stalin dead, but some few wanted him alive for their own reasons. The assignment proposed to Asher and Petrovna was to save Stalin, both in person and through his secret papers; if there was a choice between the two, the papers were considered top priority.
Enjoy espionage with a healthy twist of humor, history with a few extra characters and a view of the world from the eyes those who "manage" history with a dose of the possible and a sprig of reality in this fictional rendition of what might have been.
