Simon of Cyrene

Simon of Cyrene did not have a pleasant and easy experience as he picked up the cross of Jesus, struggled, and carried the cross up Golgotha’s Hill. The road he had to travel was hard and rough. It was a mandate from God that this Simon should carry the cross for His Son. It was God’s will that Simon lead the scapegoat to a place for the deliverance of the entire world.

Any story concerning the crucifixion is inherently interesting. This one, told from the point of view of an ordinary man from Cyrene named Simon, is especially intimate, as close to the cross as one can get without viewing events through the eyes of Christ Himself. The close details of the brutality against Jesus are made more vivid because Simon was right there, and we experience the horror through his eyes.

What would’ve happened had Simon not carried the cross of Jesus up the Hill of Golgotha?
