Movies in Our Time - Hollywood Mirrors and Mimics the Twentieth Century

This is a collection of essays on classic films gleaned from my Another Old Movie Blog, which at this time is entering its eighth year of exploring the culture, message, and entertainment of these films in the context of the time in which they were made.

Some of these essays are found in my previous volume, Classic Films and the American Conscience, which, unlike this book, is available only in eBook form. Some essays are new, and this volume is dedicated specifically to the years 1928 to 1960.

The movies are presented in the order of the year or years in which they are set, not necessarily the year in which the film was made. These essays are not reviews of the films, they are an analysis of film as it reflects popular culture, and chock full of spoilers.
