This is the true and continuing story of Lorna McBride, a lady from a small town outside of Cardiff, Wales, and the father of her illegitimate grandson, who talked her into lending him £25,000 for three months—a sum which he refused to repay.

Lorna has had a very interesting life. Her daughter, Trudy, a well-known Cardiff lawyer, was married to Christopher Monger the writer and director of the film The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain starring Hugh Grant. Christopher Monger is also wrote the movie Liz & Dick, starring Lindsey Lohan, about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's romance.
