This book contains a history of public education in America and has information on public educational advocates such as Horace Mann, John Dewey, John Broadus Watson, Richard T. La Piere, and others. American education has been designed by those who believed in the perfectibility of man, and that man might be able realize utopia by means of education. The author, a retired educator and administrator in Christian schools, illustrates how these ideas are flawed. He also discusses the present educational disasters of “No Child Left Behind,” and “Common Core.” Furthermore, he gives information on how parents may resist the “Common Core Curriculum.” He ends on a positive note, reminding the reader that “Reform is not impossible, and that “The future has never been shaped by majorities but rather by dedicated minorities.”
