One of the lingering questions about the Lewis and Clark Expedition that still remains unanswered 200 years later is what happened to Lewis' dog Seaman?
The last entry in the journals about Seaman was written July 15, 1806 while they were at the Great Falls of the Missouri River. The Expedition reached their final destination, St. Louis, Missouri, two months later and 1,500 miles farther.
Since there is no other mention of the dog we are left to wonder if he perished in the wilderness.
This book looks at the few known facts about Seaman then presents a totally new and different hypothesis on his last days.
